Sometimes it feels as though there is no rhyme or reason behind the rise and fall of gas prices. The prices seem to always take two or three steps forward and then just one step back. But we can be sure that the days of cheap gas are long gone.
So, what do you do when the money you spend on gas is squeezing your entire budget? Here are a few simple ways to save money at the pump.
- One of the biggest impacts on fuel economy is driving style. According to Edmunds.com, calm driving, as opposed to aggressive driving with fast lane changes and hard braking, can improve your fuel efficiency by 35 percent!
- Drive less. If you have any coworkers who live near you, see if you can work out a carpool and take turns driving. Also, if your family loves to take long weekend drives, you might want to find another way to enjoy your time together.
- You can save money on gas by using sites such as Gasbuddy.com to find the cheapest price. However, don’t drive across town to save a penny. You can also see if any of your local grocery stores offer fuel savings through loyalty cards. Membership stores, like Sam’s Club, often have less expensive fuel.
