Recently, Ford and Lincoln announced that they had posted record sales for several different models, proving the brand has become more popular than ever. Here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford we couldn’t be happier to see even more Ford and Lincoln vehicles on the road.
So who cares about sales, right? Well, normally sales don’t say too much about the market, but these recent numbers are proving more and more that Ford and Lincoln are the go-to choice for drivers. In particular, the Ford Fusion is quickly becoming a classic.
“Fusion is an outstanding success story with October marking six straight months of record sales,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Fusion is on pace to break the 300,000-vehicle mark this year for the first time ever. Plus, based on the strong sales of the all-new MKC, Lincoln produced its best sales results in October since 2007.”
The Ford Fusion design offers drivers a stylish ride which is both fast and fuel-efficient. With optional EcoBoost and Duratec engines, a sleek exterior (with a gorgeous front grille), and next-generation SmartGuage with EcoGuide, the Fusion is a no-brainer for most drivers.
Ford and Lincoln October sales looked extremely promising last month—especially for the luxury brand, which experienced its best October sales results in seven years.
Three Ford models stood out from the rest for their outstanding performances, including the Fusion, Escape, Explorer and Transit Connect.
Sales of the Fusion, one of our favorites here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, totaled 22,846 vehicles, an increase of 5 percent that brought the car to its best-ever October sales performance since its launch back in 2005.
The Escape also posted its best-ever October with a 12 percent increase over the same month last year. Meanwhile, Explorer sales increased 6 percent, marking its best performance since 2004.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the Transit Connect also posted its best-ever October performance, with 4,068 vehicles sold, up 28 percent.
At Lincoln, it was the hot new MKC that helped lift the brand to its best October since 2007. With its best sales yet last month, the MKC helped Lincoln post a 25 percent gain and the brand’s best October results since 2007.
Ford Motor Company’s new chief executive, Mark Fields, has promised to pour a little T.L.C. and a ton of cash into the Lincoln brand. Ford hopes that the multi-year, multibillion-dollar commitment to their luxury brand will help reposition Lincoln as a global luxury automaker.
Reuters has reported that over the next five years, Ford could invest as much as $5 billion to revive the brand, which will include the addition of several new and improved Lincoln models. The investment also promises a new, premium vehicle platform that will underpin several future Lincoln vehicles.
“It’s really important for us to have a relevant and vibrant luxury brand,” Fields told Reuters. “You need to make the investment and build this brand over time.”
Lincoln’s revamp will introduce a new product portfolio, a new brand image, and will position the automaker to compete directly with Mercedes-Benz and BMW AG internationally. In the short-term, Ford hopes to triple Lincoln’s sales to 300,000 by 2020. Over the long-term, the automaker hopes to restore Lincoln’s position as a top luxury brand in the U.S. and provide it with the same position in China. To get things started, the Lincoln MKZ sedan recently arrived in China, becoming the first Lincoln vehicle to make its way to that country.
Here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, we can appreciate lofty goals and high expectations. We look forward to seeing how Ford’s investment in Lincoln will revive the brand we love.
If you’ve heard anything about the new MKC, there’s no doubt it’s something good. In fact, recently the new model was recently named the Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas. So it looks like the evidence is in: the MKC is one of the best crossovers on the market.
The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) recently gave the prestigious title to the MKC during its annual Truck Rodeo, as well as the title Luxury Crossover Vehicle, according to a press release from Lincoln.
“These awards for MKC, following momentum from the all-new MKZ as the start of this latest chapter for Lincoln, demonstrate our plan is on the right track,” said Kumar Galhotra, President of Lincoln. “We’re encouraged that our latest vehicle has been recognized so soon after its debut at such an important and influential event.”
The TAWA focused on several features of the new MKC, especially its incredible performance, craftsmanship, and technology. The new model is surprisingly rugged and durable for a luxury vehicle. On top of that, the EcoBoost engine doesn’t sacrifice power for fuel-economy. It truly has it all.

Which state buys more pickup trucks than any other? If you guessed Texas, you are correct! At the recent Texas Truck Rodeo held by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 was given the prestigious Truck of Texas award.
This is the top honor given out at this event, and is awarded after rigorous testing. The judges test drove 75 vehicles from 18 different brands before naming the winners.
“TAWA members are among the first to experience the all-new F-150’s breakthrough innovations and best-in-class capabilities, features that will help our hardworking customers improve their productivity,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, The Americas, in a statement. “It is an honor to again be named Truck of Texas. We are committed to continuously improving America’s favorite trucks.”
With this win, Ford has taken home nine of the last 12 Truck of Texas awards for its F-Series Trucks.
At this year’s event, the F-150 wasn’t the only Ford vehicle to win. The 2015 Ford Transit was also named the Commercial Vehicle of Texas. The Transit replaced the best-selling E-Series line of vans and offers improved fuel efficiency and flexibility with a variety of body styles and capabilities.
Come see what Texas found so impressive about these Ford vehicles at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.
The American performance tuner Hennessey got a little power-crazy and created a version of the Mustang with 717 horsepower. But we here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford think power-crazy is a good thing. The supercharged Hennessey HPE700 demonstrates what one can do when working with quality products.
In order to generate that astonishing 717 horsepower, the Mustang’s V-8 was fitted with a high-performance supercharger. The fine-tuned 2015 Mustang was also given a new stainless steel exhaust, uprated fuel injectors and pumps, ECU flash, carbon-fiber bodywork, and lightweight 20” alloy wheels.
According to Top Gear, “Hennessey is planning a ‘high performance upgrade program’ for the base Mustang’s 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder engine. Presumably through the addition of a second 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder engine [as well].”
Unfortunately, Hennessey is only making 500 of the HPE 700s. However, the raw power of the 435 horsepower 2015 Mustang production model is still impressive. To test drive the iconic muscle car, stop by Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.
There are dangerous roads and then there are dangerous roads. A lot of us may have roads in our neighborhoods or towns that we recognize for their challenging nature. Maybe it’s a particular hidden drive or a poor traffic design compounded by speed and congestion. But beyond those mild concerns, there is a whole other class of dangerous road that exists here and there around the world.
For example, there’s the road that was originally hand-carved by a Russian immigrant. It’s been modernized now, but it remains highly dangerous. Called the Million Dollar Highway by locals, it’s in Colorado and runs between Durango and Ouray. Why is it dangerous? It’s curvy as hell, and most of the time, one side offers only a few feet of shoulder before dropping off into a cliff.
Siberia is known for being a natural prison. Russia sent its prisoners there because they didn’t even have to lock them up–there was nowhere habitable to escape to! Across Siberia stretches the Trans-Siberian Highway. The danger here is the cold. The winter lasts 10 months and average temperatures hover around -37F. Bring a blanket.
Then there is the aptly-named Death Road in Bolivia. The road is unpaved, winding, and ridiculously narrow. It’s carved into a canyon and thus one side drops off sharply to the base, thousands of feet below.
No matter where you are driving, we at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford hope you drive safely and responsibly!
Doesn’t it seem like every time it turns cold and the snow starts to fall, everyone else on the road is just learning how drive in it? Avoid looking like a rookie out there by checking out these strategies that will help you manage when you are driving in the snow.
Just like bicyclists with helmets get in more accidents than those without helmets, using 4WD can create an excessive sense of confidence. The important part to remember is that while 4WD can help your vehicle handle better, preventing you from spinning out, it does not help you brake any better. Leave yourself plenty of stopping distance.
Don’t tail other drivers. Of course, this is good advice even under perfect conditions. But when there is snow and ice on the ground, you should allow an almost excessive amount of distance between yourself and the driver ahead of you. Double or triple your normal distance.
Probably the most nuanced strategy has to do with how you brake in the snow. When you feel your car begin to slide or lose traction, slamming on the brakes to the point that your wheels lock-up is very counter-productive. At that point, steering is irrelevant. Try letting off the accelerator. That way you can still steer.
Put these skills to the test the next time it snows with a new car from Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.
Can you tell that we at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford are just a tad bit excited about football season? While we’re enjoying our lazy football Sundays on the couch, we’re also proud to catch some Friday night football as we support our local high school athletes.
Friday nights around here are prime time to see future Steelers go head-to-head with rival schools, seeking to add that ‘W’ to their record for the year. Though high school is certainly different now than when we were students, nothing has changed about the tradition of showing school spirit and making some noise. Probably the only time we get quiet around here during a football game is when the marching band plays the National Anthem and in the .7 seconds before a game-winning play is made.
At the time of this writing, local high schools Pine-Richland and North Hills are currently undefeated, though after the teams play each other, only one will keep a ‘0’ in the loss column.
Nearby North Allegheny High School is also in prime position to make this a great season.
Which local high school teams do your support? Maybe we’ll see you in the bleachers or at the concession stand in line sometime soon!
The football season is ramping up, and what could be a better way to bond with your family than to bring everyone to see a game?
Taking the family around takes a dependable and capable vehicle, which is why at Shults Ford we recommend the Ford Edge, Escape, or Explorer, depending on how many kids you need to carry around.
Speaking of kids, the North Allegheny High School football team is currently 1-2 in wins-losses. They need all the support they can get! With one of the vehicles mentioned above, you’ll be able to bring the whole family to the game and all the football gear you need if one of your kids is on the team.
But the Edge, Escape, and Explorer aren’t just great people-movers. They also ensure the utmost safety with active technologies like BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert and forward collision warning with brake support. They also get great fuel economy, so all those trips to the local game will barely make a dent in the fuel gauge!
