As we have stated previously, the 2015 Ford Mustang is set to debut with a rather expansive list of new safety and technological features, such as the knee airbags mentioned previously. So what is the newest reveal of the 2015 Mustang? Well this time, it’s a technological feature, but it very well could save your life in the event of an accident. An upgraded 911 Assist will be coming with the new Mustang.
So what does an upgraded 911 Assist mean? We know that the 911 Assist offered previously would make a phone call, through a Bluetooth-connected phone, should you become involved in an accident. Already sounds like a pretty good deal, so how can it get better? With the upgraded 911 Assist, first responders and emergency personnel can learn whether the crash involved a front, side, rear, or even a rollover impact. It will also inform emergency personnel on how many seat belts were in use at the time of the crash and whether the airbags deployed or not.
David Hatton, the global project leader with Ford Connected Services, said, “Sync [911 Assist] will only broadcast relevant information to save time, and it constructs a very efficient message for the operator. After the introductory message, the voice line opens automatically and occupants can speak directly with the operator via Sync’s hands-free functionality.”
At Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, we think anything that can help emergency personnel and first responders help the victims of a crash more quickly and efficiently is a good thing. What do you think?
Ford has been rolling out all kinds of tidbits on the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang, but the sleek design to how the vehicle handles, and everything in between, but the newest leak is just as exciting, if not more exciting, than the rest. The 2015 Mustang will come standard with the newest safety feature from Ford: an innovative new glovebox-mounted airbag that will keep the knees of its passengers protected in the event of a crash. These knee airbags will be available on all versions of the 2015 Mustang and it is the first of Ford’s expansive lineup to receive the new safety feature.
The knee airbags are actually pretty simple. They are virtually invisible to the passenger and compared to the tradition airbag, the knee airbag is 65% lighter and is able to use an inflator that is 75% smaller. We aren’t sure whether or not the knee airbag will be added to other Ford vehicles in the future, but if the knee airbag proves effective, then at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, we are sure they will be coming standard in the future! What do you think of knee airbags? Let us know in the comments below!
The 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster is an incredible car that made waves when it was introduced into the racing scene is the 1960s. This car has been kept in a collection by the same owner for over 20 years and it is now being auctioned off to the highest bidder to make their car collection one-of-a-kind.
Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California is a gathering place for car enthusiast and vintage cars. This year’s event will be particularly special due to this auction. Ford and Shelby only build 100 of these cars to sell to consumers and just four of those were roadsters. The ’65 Ford GT40 Roadster that is being auctions off is the only one left in existence that is in its original condition.
Besides the fact that there is no other car like this in the world, there are also historic events that make it stand apart from the rest. This GT40 Roadster got ford to Le Mans four years in a row in the late 60s. It also was personally driven by Carroll Shelby and Henry Ford II at a test and demo event for the board of directors in Las Angeles.
The ’65 Ford GT40 Roadster was consigned to RM Auctions and can be seen in Monterey in mid-August. The last time a similar vehicle was sold, it went for $7 million, so you can expect similar results if not higher!
When great things stay around long enough, they tend to get celebrated—just think of anniversary parties of all kinds. Well, the Ford Expedition will be celebrating two decades of excellence in a couple years, and the Blue Oval wants to be sure their popular full-size SUV is the belle of the ball. Therefore, based on customer demand, they’ve created the 2015 Expedition Platinum Edition, which features an all-new engine as well as an improved interior full of advanced technology.
The new SUV runs on a 3.5L EcoBoost engine which replaces the current 5.4L V8 engine option. The new EcoBoost will be the only engine offered in North America, but that’s ok with us here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford—the engine is smaller yet more powerful and efficient than its predecessor.
The new Expedition sees all kinds of updates inside the cabin. We recommend you visit us at Shults for the full run-down, but some of our favorites are the 8 inch touchscreen, the all-new power assisted steering feature, and even the rearview camera and Blind Spot Information System. With room for eight passengers, the new Expedition is just waiting for you to come start the party.
Even though it’s yet to hit dealerships, Ford’s upcoming lightweighted 2015 F-150 is, by all expert accounts and reviews, poised to be Ford’s best and most popular F-150 ever. That’s saying something, since the F-150 has been part of America’s best-selling truck series for the last 37 years. But when you realize that, thanks largely to an aluminum frame, this new truck is stronger, lighter, and more efficient than previous models, it starts to make sense.
It also makes sense for Ford to ride this success and try to employ lightweighting strategies and technology in other ways as well. That’s just what they’ve done with the Lightweight Concept, which is basically a Ford Fusion that’s undergone a makeover to lose 700 pounds. For the Lightweight Concept, Ford replaced basically every part of the Fusion with a lighter alternative, gleefully experimenting to see just how light and efficient they could make the sedan.
The result is a car full of aluminum, carbon fiber, and even something called Gorilla Glass, all of which adds up to a car that looks like a Fusion but weighs like a Fiesta—and gets the Fiesta’s fuel economy numbers as well. We’ll probably have to wait a while to see a production version of the Lightweight Concept—there’s no current plans for one and all that carbon fiber is expensive—but here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford we’re excited to be part of a company with such an innovative spirit and bright future.

How long would you be willing to wait for your car to get fixed? We are talking maybe a new part or some routine maintenance. A couple of days tops? Well, Al Miller, an individual who took his vehicle into a Pittsburgh dealership in December, waited a full 7 months for his catalytic converter to be fixed on his 7 year old car and was given every excuse in the book as to why it was taking so long. In the end, he was informed that they couldn’t fix it because it was too old.
Miller took his story to KDKA’s Marty Griffin, who made a single phone call that put him in touch with Shults Ford Lincoln in Wexford. Shults Ford, led by owner Richard Bazzy, previously had nothing to do with Miller’s car until Griffin contacted Bazzy. Bazzy immediately wanted to help fix the problem.
“I want to get involved Marty, because I don’t want that to represent the brand, how customers are treated at Ford,” Bazzy stated.
He made only a few phone calls, located the part that was needed, and sent one of his employees to the state of Ohio to pick it up. Ford stepped right in and did what they could to rectify the situation.
In the end, Miller’s car was fixed and he couldn’t be more grateful. Thanks to getting Marty Griffin and Richard Bazzy involved, Miller was reunited with his car within a week of the initial contact! If you are looking for a dealership that cares about your needs and are willing to do anything to help, then any of the three Shults locations would be the perfect choice for you!

There is no denying that many things have improved on each and every vehicle on the market over the years. From the style, to the comfort, to the durability, the automotive industry is always evolving. But there is one area of the automotive industry that has evolved more than any other part and that’s technology. From the invention of the seat belt, all the way up to active braking and blind spot detection, technology has improved our driving for us.
At Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, we want to share with you some of these great advances in technology.
Alert Driving Warnings: There are many automakers working on a system that will alert a driver if the car senses the driver is non-responsive to traffic. The car will do something like vibrate the seat to bring the driver’s attention back to the traffic conditions.
Active Braking: Some vehicles now have mounted cameras on them and will detect if something is in the way. The vehicle will apply the brakes to avoid an accident. In addition to the active braking feature, the vehicle will notify the driver before taking automatic action, making the driver aware of the obstacle in the way.
Blind Spot Detection: Vehicles now are starting to have small lights on the driver and passenger side mirrors that light up when the vehicle detects a possible collision from something in the blind spot.
These are just a few of the great advanced safety technologies that the automotive industry is adding to vehicles. Visit us at Shults Ford if you would like to learn more!

The Ford F-Series has done it again! As we all know, the Ford F-Series has been the number one truck in America for the past 37 years and it doesn’t look like that will be changing anytime soon! The F-Series saw its best April sales in the United States since 2006. To top off the success of the F-Series, the Ford Explorer had a banner month as well, with April sales being the best they have seen since 2005!
“F-Series and Explorer showed considerable strength in April, posting their best results in almost a decade. We also saw another breakout month for Fusion, with continued strength in the western region. Overall, industry sales continued the rebound from January and February and are on a path of steady growth” boasted John Felice, Ford’s vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service.
Ford EcoBoost continues to play a huge role in the increase in sales, with it being 42% of the truck’s overall retail engine’s sold. A total of 63,387 Ford F-Series were sold in April and we hope to see those numbers continue to rise for the month of May.
